30 Top Reining Horses Bound for NRBC Open Finals

The National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC) is a major show for reining’s derby aged horses. It has also been a playground for new classes and divisions to be introduced to the sport. One thing that hasn’t changed is the Open Classic, and this year, 30 horse and rider pairs are bound for the NRBC Open Finals.

Thursday’s draw party will determine the order of go for each horse in the finals, and this year’s field features some exciting contenders, and many of different nationalities. Riders originally hailing from the United States, Brazil, Germany, Canada, Italy, Austria and Mexico.

The 2023 NRBC Open Champion Down Right Amazing returns to the finals with EquiStat Elite $4 Million Rider Casey Deary, the pair are going to be strong contenders as always. Another major contender, EquiStat Elite $3 Million Rider Jason Vanlandingham marked a 226 to tie for the top prelim spot on 2023 The Run For A Million Champion Best Shine. He tied with Fernando Salgado riding one of three horses he’ll take back to the finals, Spook Lil Whiz.

Duane Latimer recently topped the Cactus Classic The Run For A Million qualifier with CS Especially Moody and marked a 222 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to earn their spot in the NRBC Open Finals. Only time will tell if Latimer and CS Ranch’s CS Especially Moody are going to hit a hot streak this year.
