23 Make NCHA Super Stakes Classic Open Finals

Horses from across the country make up the field for the 2024 National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Super Stakes Classic Open finals in Fort Worth, Texas.

The clean-slate finals, scheduled for Friday, Mar. 29, includes 23 horses hailing from top breeding programs and royal bloodlines. Leading the way into the finals is Suzy Q Ish and Grant Setnicka, who marked the high score of 221 in the Open semifinals on Wednesday, Mar. 27 for Rio Roca Land & Cattle Co.. Other high marks from the Open semifinals were Phil N Dangerous (220.5) Just Rebelling (220) and five horses who marked a 219: One Nite In Ft Worth, Storyteler, Reyzin Bets, Playin Hot Rock, and Rebelin Hot.

The stallion with the most progeny in this year’s field is Metallic Rebel, who had seven make the Open finals. The lineup also includes multiple offspring of top junior sires sires: three by 2015 NCHA Open Futurity Champion Stevie Rey Von, one by NCHA Horse of The Year Smooth Talkin Style, one by NCHA Summer Spectacular 4-year-old open Champion Reyzin The Cash and one by EquiStat Elite $2 Million Sire Sannman.

Per usual, the marepower is strong. This year’s field includes one offspring of EquiStat Elite $2 Million Dam Show Biz Kitty—Storyteler—as well as Von Spartacus, a stallion by EquiStat Elite $1 Million Dam My Little Abra. The future of hopeful powerhouse dams is also present with Wood She B Magic in the competitive draw.
