Heritage Livestock will host their Select Summer Sale on June 13–14, 2025, at their facility in Mount Vernon, Missouri. Known for curating well-respected horse auctions, Heritage Livestock lets the horses speak for themselves and continues to attract top-tier consignors and buyers from across the country.
A Premier Summer EventThe Select Summer Sale is a unique event in Heritage Livestock’s annual auction lineup. Held at their facility, conveniently located off the interstate, this sale offers buyers the opportunity to preview horses in both pasture and arena settings. The auction focuses on a hand-picked selection of mature, skilled horses ready to move straight into their next job. Horses and ponies from Heritage Livestock sales can be found working all over the country on guest ranches, fox hunting, team roping, playing polo, doctoring calves, and working in lesson programs.
There will be an all-day Preview on June 13th. A preview schedule will be posted closer to the sale date, but attendees can expect a mix of open riding and roping. Buyers are strongly encouraged to attend the preview to meet the consignors in person and have their questions answered. A hospitality tent, food trucks, and tack vendors will be on site.
The morning of June 14th will feature more open riding. Guests can sip on local coffee or mimosas and enjoy fresh cinnamon rolls while talking to consignors. The sale will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the indoor arena. This is a live auction, but online and phone bidding will be available for those unable to attend in person.
For more information or to register as a bidder, visit Heritage Livestock’s website or contact Dennis Raucher at (417) 316-0023. Consignments are shared on Heritage Livestock’s Facebook page. The online catalog will be posted on both Facebook and the website, and printed catalogs will be available during sale weekend.
Heritage Livestock is a family-run business operated by second- and third-generation horsemen. The team takes pride in producing “The Horseman’s Horse Sale” and focuses on creating a market that brings horses to horsemen from every corner of the nation. The Raucher Family has ridden competitively in a wide array of disciplines—from team roping to polo to hunters and equitation. This broad experience gives them a unique ability to provide appropriate marketing and make connections with buyers for horses of all disciplines.
They’ve set themselves apart by pioneering a unique “Proven Session” Preview at their sales in Parsons, KS. The Proven Session Preview is a five-minute skills test designed by Sale Manager Dennis Raucher that showcases all of the qualities he looks for in a horse when buying. Consignors show their horses being bridled in a plain, bitted bridle; picking up all four feet; dismounting and remounting; demonstrating a figure 8 at a trot and lope with a lead change; sidepassing; dragging a log forwards and back; and working a gate. This preview format highlights consignors’ handmade horses to serious buyers, and Proven Session horses consistently top the sale.
Their focus on selling the handmade horse from horsemen of many disciplines has attracted serious buyers, enabling Heritage Livestock to maintain a high sales percentage. For the last three years, their sales have averaged 80–90% sold.
